The beautiful African Skies can be captures in many ways, we were lucky to capture the the Milky Way while it was showing off on clear night.
The Nightsky with the Milky Way
Autumn is arriving slowly and early in the morning the center of the Milky Way starts rising over the horizon again.
After a guest showed interest in star/night sky photography we decided to meet at 2:45 at the restaurant to give it a try. A clear visual is possible between 3:00 and 4:30 but it is still difficult to get it captured. The sunrise which is at around 6:00 starts affecting the night sky already at 4:00. Moreover we had to deal with a huge amount of airglow. Airglow is basically caused by atoms that were photoionized by the energy of sun rays and recombination again.
Nevertheless the photography session turned out as a success. We were able to capture the Milky Way even with our phones and a herd of Wildebeest and Zebra walked into the picture just as a shooting star burned out next to the center of the Milky Way.
